Meet Tami

When I was 14 years old, my rebellious ways and disregard for rules led to a counseling referral from school administrators.  Dr. P  looked like me, but didn’t quite understand the experiences of abandonment and grief fueling my behaviors.  Although my sessions ended after 6 weeks , it took a lot longer to begin the healing process.
Years later I found my way back to therapy and the power of transformation that it can provide.  As a black woman navigating multiple life roles, I know too well the weight of responsibility and the struggle to balance it all.  I know what it’s like to work too much and try too hard; to put others first and neglect myself; to feel guilty or angry, unloved or judged; or any other experience that depletes energy and disrupts peace.  These experiences can also be the root cause of anxiety, depression, emotional eating, sleep disturbances, or physical discomfort and pain.
My own journey of healing and growth has taught me how important it is to feel safe, supported, and understood.  That doesn’t mean I won’t challenge you or hold you accountable, but I’ll do it with kindness, compassion, and respect.   I’ll help you understand where you come from, what you believe, and how that impacts what you think you can or cannot do.  Together we’ll figure out what you want to change and the skills and strategies you need to manifest that change.
I’ll support you in finding your voice, your dream, your path or whatever you need to be happy, healthy, and whole.  I choose this work every day – it’s what inspires, motivates, and sustains me.
I’m also licensed, credentialed, and experienced.
